A Day's Ferreting With my Son

I went out yesterday with my son and well, what an eventful day it was.

It started out taking his mum to work and then off to the fields Joe and I travelled with him telling me all about what he and the ferrets were going do.

Joe helped me with the ferret box

but as you can see with me taking the big hob with me, it was a bit heavy for him.

well off to the first hole and I netted it up and got spike and the hob ready,
in he went and the wait began.

Well after about ten minutes out he poped, no rabbit much too Joes delight shouting
" the ferret the ferret daddy"

Well I packed up and off we went to the next set, next too a public footpath.

W hen we got there and had the ferrets working, along came this bloke with his dog off the lead and Flyte was loose doing her stuff, I quite politely said "would it be possible for you to leash your dog due to it running about my nets and the ferret is at work"
I got this reaction.............................."you got a terrier down there what you lot do is wrong you know that dont you?". Well I said that I was ferreting and this was my only dog and just as he was about to speak my super son said " this is my dog Flyte and these are my ferrets" ....................said man buggered off huffing and puffing!!!

Off to the woods we went.

Joe helped by setting nets.

and a few more

Off went the ferret and we waited and waited,
so Joe decided to be in charge of the digging.

Then out off the blue a rabbit bolted straight into one off the nets that 'Joe set' and it pursed perfectly what do you know the little lad can set better nets than his dad!!

With our one rabbit caught and Joe getting quite tired we set off back to the car.

Joe posing.

Flyte posing to the camera.

and this picture says it all!

Long may this sport be available too us all

And like all good hunters, on the way home he had a quick snooze to
reflect on his days outing.

Waggi & Joe
